While we often hear about the gut microbiome, the skin microbiome is no less important for our well-being. The skin is the largest human organ, and billions of bacteria, fungi, and viruses live on its surface. They form a complex ecosystem that protects us from pathogens, participates in the regulation of the immune response, and even influences the development of diseases.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"524\" data-end=\"632\"><strong data-start=\"524\" data-end=\"551\">What is the skin microbiome?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"524\" data-end=\"632\">The skin microbiome consists of a large number of microorganisms, including:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"633\" data-end=\"777\">\n<li data-start=\"633\" data-end=\"698\">\n<p data-start=\"635\" data-end=\"698\">bacteria (<em data-start=\"645\"
