What is CA-125 and why is it being paid attention to?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

CA-125 is a protein molecule (glycoprotein) that is naturally produced by epithelial cells of certain internal organs, such as the endometrium, fallopian tubes, peritoneum, and pleura. In healthy women, it can be present in the blood in small amounts. However, if a pathological process begins in the body, especially associated with ovarian tumors, the level of this protein can increase significantly.<\/p>\n

CA-125 analysis<\/a> used as one of the tumor markers<\/strong> \u2014 biochemical indicators that help detect or suspect the presence of a tumor. It is especially valuable in detecting epithelial ovarian cancer<\/strong>, which often does not cause any symptoms in the early stages.<\/p>\n

How the analysis works<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The analysis determines the amount of CA-125 per unit volume of blood. Normally, this indicator is up to 35 U\/ml<\/strong>. If the values are higher, it is a signal for further diagnostics. But it is important to understand: the analysis itself does not diagnose<\/strong>, but only indicates the likelihood of pathological processes.<\/p>\n
