Some of them are produced by the tumor cells themselves, others are produced as the body&#039;s response to the presence of a tumor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"528\" data-end=\"802\">Traditionally, the most well-known markers are PSA (prostate cancer), <a href=\"https:\/\/medilab.km.ua\/en\/analysis\/diagnosis-of-tumor-markers\/ovarian-cancer-marker-sa-125\/\">CA-125<\/a> (ovarian cancer), CEA (colorectal cancer). However, in recent years, science has been <strong data-start=\"684\" data-end=\"715\">new generations of tumor markers<\/strong>, which are more sensitive, specific and allow for the diagnosis of cancer in the early stages.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"804\" data-end=\"845\"><strong>What is the difference between new tumor markers?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"847\" data-end=\"1074\">Unlike the classic ones, <strong data-start=\"873\" data-end=\"925\">new tumor markers are often molecular in nature<\/strong> are gene fragments, microRNAs, mutations, or protein complexes that more accurately indicate the type of tumor, stage of the disease, and even the prognosis for treatment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1076\" data-end=\"1094\">They allow:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1095\" data-end=\"1267\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1095\" data-end=\"1130\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1097\" data-end=\"1130\">detect cancer before symptoms appear<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1131\" data-end=\"1180\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1133\" data-end=\"1180\">distinguish between malignant and benign tumors<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1181\" data-end=\"1209\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1183\" data-end=\"1209\">assess the risk of relapse<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1210\" certain biomarkers can be monitored periodically.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"2826\" data-end=\"2853\"><strong>Limitations and prospects<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2855\" data-end=\"3210\">Despite the encouraging results, <strong data-start=\"2893\" data-end=\"2966\">most new tumor markers do not yet have the status of &quot;gold standard&quot;\u00ab<\/strong>. They are used mainly in research centers or in experimental therapy settings. It is important to remember: the earlier, the better the chances of recovery.
