What are pathogens in feces?<\/h2>\n

Pathogenic microorganisms are infectious agents that cause disruption of the gastrointestinal tract. These include bacteria (Salmonella<\/em>, Shigella<\/em>, Campylobacter<\/em>), viruses (rotavirus, norovirus), vermin<\/a> (giardia, helminths) and some fungi. Stool analysis<\/a> for pathogens allows you to quickly identify the source of the disease, assess its risks, and initiate the correct treatment.<\/p>\n

When is the analysis prescribed?<\/h2>\n

Examination is recommended in cases of:<\/p>\n

    Basic methods for pathogen detection<\/h2>\n

    Bacteriological examination<\/h3>\n

    A stool sample is plated on nutrient media and incubated for several days. This allows the pathogen to be identified and its sensitivity to antibiotics to be determined. The method is the \u00abgold standard\u00bb for suspected salmonellosis, dysentery, and other bacterial infections.<\/p>\n

    PCR diagnostics (polymerase chain reaction)<\/h3>\n

    This is a modern molecular technique that allows you to detect the genetic material of the pathogen (DNA or RNA) even in small quantities. Suitable for rapid detection of rotavirus, adenovirus, Clostridium difficile<\/em> and other difficult-to-identify pathogens.<\/p>\n

    Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)<\/h3>\n

    Allows detection of antigens or antibodies to pathogens in feces. The method is convenient for mass testing or when it is necessary to confirm a diagnosis established by other methods.<\/p>\n

      Collect feces in a sterile container without foreign matter.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      Do not use laxatives, enemas, or suppositories before delivery.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      Deliver the material to the laboratory no later than 2 hours (or store in the refrigerator for up to 8 hours)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
