It is one of the key hormones that activates the &quot;fight or flight&quot; response: it increases heart rate, blood pressure, glucose levels, and stimulates the release of energy from depots.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"646\" data-end=\"867\">However, its level is normal. <strong data-start=\"672\" data-end=\"704\">rapidly increasing and decreasing<\/strong>, without leaving lasting traces. When adrenaline is constantly elevated or produced unnecessarily, this may indicate <strong data-start=\"825\" data-end=\"866\">endocrine or neurological disorders<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"869\" data-end=\"907\">Why take an adrenaline test?<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"909\" data-end=\"964\">A blood test for adrenaline is prescribed if there is suspicion of:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"966\" data-end=\"1265\">\n<li data-start=\"966\" data-end=\"1043\">\n<p data-start=\"968\" data-end=\"1043\"><strong data-start=\"968\" data-end=\"986\">pheochromocytoma<\/strong> \u2014 an adrenal gland tumor that produces catecholamines<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1044\" data-end=\"1101\">\n<p data-start=\"1046\" data-end=\"1101\"><strong data-start=\"1046\" data-end=\"1099\">panic disorders, tachycardias of unknown origin<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1102\" data-end=\"1147\">\n<p data-start=\"1104\" data-end=\"1147\"><strong data-start=\"1104\" data-end=\"1145\">hypertension that does not respond to treatment<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1148\" data-end=\"1212\">\n<p data-start=\"1150\" data-end=\"1212\"><strong data-start=\"1150\" data-end=\"1210\">increased sweating, tremors, anxiety for no reason<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1213\" data-end=\"1265\">\n<p data-start=\"1215\" data-end=\"1265\"><strong data-start=\"1215\" data-end=\"1265\">differential diagnosis of autonomic disorders<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1267\" data-end=\"1357\">The test can also be used <strong data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1356\">as part of an extended adrenal hormone study<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1359\" data-end=\"1385\">How is the analysis done?<\/h2>\n<ul data-start=\"1387\" data-end=\"1803\">\n<li data-start=\"1387\" data-end=\"1454\">\n<p data-start=\"1389\" data-end=\"1454\">It seems <strong data-start=\"1398\" data-end=\"1414\">venous blood<\/strong>, less often - urine (daily or one-time)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1455\" data-end=\"1562\">\n<p data-start=\"1457\" data-end=\"1562\">Blood must be donated. <strong data-start=\"1480\" data-end=\"1494\">on an empty stomach<\/strong>, in <strong data-start=\"1498\" data-end=\"1516\">morning hours<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1518\" data-end=\"1560\">in a state of physical and emotional rest<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1563\" data-end=\"1665\">\n<p data-start=\"1565\" data-end=\"1665\">By <strong data-start=\"1568\" data-end=\"1580\">2\u20133 days<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/medilab.km.ua\/en\/the-effect-of-coffee-on-analyzes-why-you-shouldn-39-t-drink-coffee-before-examinations\/\">caffeine should be avoided<\/a>, alcohol, smoking, physical overload, emotional stress<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1666\" data-end=\"1803\">\n<p data-start=\"1668\" data-end=\"1803\">Before analysis <strong data-start=\"1683\" data-end=\"1729\">it is not recommended to take some medications<\/strong>: sympathomimetics, antidepressants, beta-blockers (agreed with the doctor)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"1805\" data-end=\"1831\">How are the results evaluated?<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1833\" data-end=\"1886\">The norm of adrenaline in the blood plasma of an adult is usually:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1888\" data-end=\"1935\">\n<li data-start=\"1888\" data-end=\"1935\">\n<p data-start=\"1890\" data-end=\"1935\"><strong data-start=\"1890\" data-end=\"1909\">&lt; 100\u2013120 pg\/mL<\/strong> (depending on the laboratory)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1937\" data-end=\"1981\"><strong data-start=\"1937\" data-end=\"1980\">Increased adrenaline may indicate<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1983\" data-end=\"2192\">\n<li data-start=\"1983\" data-end=\"2023\">\n<p data-start=\"1985\" data-end=\"2023\"><strong data-start=\"1985\" data-end=\"2021\">pheochromocytoma or paraganglioma<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2024\" data-end=\"2086\">\n<p data-start=\"2026\" data-end=\"2086\"><strong data-start=\"2026\" data-end=\"2084\">intense physical or emotional stress before the analysis<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2087\" data-end=\"2117\">\n<p data-start=\"2089\" data-end=\"2117\"><strong level<\/strong> has less clinical significance, but can be detected when <strong data-start=\"2273\" data-end=\"2299\">adrenal exhaustion<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"2304\" catecholamines<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2491\" data-end=\"2617\">\n<li data-start=\"2491\" data-end=\"2511\">\n<p data-start=\"2493\" data-end=\"2511\"><strong data-start=\"2493\" data-end=\"2509\">noradrenaline<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2512\" data-end=\"2527\">\n<p data-start=\"2514\" data-end=\"2527\"><strong data-start=\"2514\" data-end=\"2525\">dopamine<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2528\" data-end=\"2617\">\n<p data-start=\"2530\" data-end=\"2617\"><strong data-start=\"2530\" data-end=\"2562\">metanephrines \/ normetanephrines<\/strong> \u2014 stable metabolites, more accurate markers of pheochromocytoma<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2619\" data-end=\"2694\">If an adrenal tumor is suspected, the doctor usually also prescribes:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2696\" data-end=\"2789\">\n<li data-start=\"2696\" data-end=\"2726\">\n<p data-start=\"2698\" data-end=\"2726\"><strong data-start=\"2698\" data-end=\"2724\">Ultrasound or CT scan of the adrenal glands<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2727\" data-end=\"2751\">\n<p data-start=\"2729\" data-end=\"2751\"><strong data-start=\"2729\" data-end=\"2749\">MRI with contrast<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2752\" data-end=\"2789\">\n<p data-start=\"2754\" data-end=\"2789\"><strong data-start=\"2754\" data-end=\"2789\">functional hormonal tests<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"2791\" data-end=\"2825\">What symptoms should alert you?<\/h2>\n<ul data-start=\"2827\" spikes<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3016\" data-end=\"3129\">In such cases <strong data-start=\"3033\" data-end=\"3128\">A blood test for adrenaline could be the key to detecting a rare but
