Vitamin D (25OH Vitamin D total (D2+D3))
540 UAH
25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) — the main biochemical marker for assessing the body's vitamin D status (total D2 + D3). The study is necessary to monitor bone health, immune function, and the cardiovascular system.
- Biomaterial: venous blood
- Deadline: 1 calendar day
- Preparation: fasting (8–12 hours of fasting)
About the analysis: Vitamin D (25OH Vitamin D total)
25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) is the main form of vitamin D circulating in the blood and the most accurate indicator of its total body stores. Vitamin D acts as a prohormone and plays a crucial role in the absorption of calcium, phosphorus and magnesium, ensuring strong bones and teeth, as well as supporting the immune and cardiovascular systems.
There are two main forms of vitamin D that enter the body:
- D3 (cholecalciferol): It is synthesized in the skin when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) sunlight and also comes from fatty fish, eggs, and butter.
- D2 (ergocalciferol): comes mainly from plant-based foods and specific supplements.
This analysis determines total concentration (D2 + D3), which allows you to get a complete and objective picture of vitamin status.
Vitamin D norm and interpretation of results*
The level of 25(OH)D in the blood is measured in ng/ml (or nmol/l). The interpretation of the indicators is carried out according to international and Ukrainian clinical recommendations:
- < 20 ng/mL (< 50 nmol/L) — Deficiency (requires correction under the supervision of a doctor)
- 20–29 ng/mL (50–74 nmol/L) — Insufficiency
- 30–50 ng/mL (75–125 nmol/L) — Optimal (sufficient) level
- 50–100 ng/mL (125–250 nmol/L) — Safe higher level
- > 100 ng/mL (> 250 nmol/L) — Excess/risk of toxic effects (hypervitaminosis)
*According to the Consensus of Ukrainian experts on the diagnosis and treatment of vitamin D deficiency.
Who is recommended to take the test and when?
Main indications for the study:
- Frequent respiratory and viral diseases, weakened immunity.
- Pain in bones, joints, muscles, chronic fatigue and muscle weakness.
- Prevention and diagnosis of osteoporosis, osteomalacia and frequent fractures.
- Short-term exposure to the sun, use of sunscreens, autumn-winter period.
- For people over 60 years of age, pregnant women and women in menopause.
- Individuals with excess body weight (BMI ≥ 30) or gastrointestinal diseases (malabsorption).
- Dosage control when taking vitamin D medications and supplements.
Rules for preparing for blood donation
- Blood is donated strictly on an empty stomach in the morning (after 8–12 hours of overnight fasting). It is allowed to drink pure, still water.
- 24 hours before the analysis, avoid alcohol, fatty foods, and intense physical activity.
- Refrain from smoking for 1–2 hours.
- In consultation with your doctor, it is recommended to stop taking vitamin D supplements a few days before the test (unless the purpose is to monitor current intake).
