An allergy is an immunological reaction of the body to substances that are normally harmless, but for allergic people become potentially dangerous allergens. This reaction can manifest itself in a variety of symptoms, from minor itching and nausea to serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis. Allergy diagnosis is of great importance for timely identification of allergic people and providing them with appropriate treatment and advice.
Immunoallergy diagnostics is an important component of the process of establishing the presence of allergies and determining the specific allergen to which the body reacts. One of the methods of immunoallergy diagnostics is the inhalation panel 20-I.
The 20-I Inhalation Panel is a set of allergy tests that contain various allergens that usually cause respiratory allergic reactions. This panel helps immunoallergists determine which allergens a patient reacts to and prepare an individual treatment and prevention program.
The procedure for immunoallergic diagnostics using the 20-I inhalation panel includes the following stages:
- History taking. The doctor will ask the patient about symptoms that occur during contact with certain substances, the locations and times of exacerbations, and any allergic reactions in the family.
- Physical examination. The doctor will examine and auscultate the lungs, listen to the heart, and examine the mucous membranes to determine possible signs of allergy.
- Selecting allergens for testing. Based on the history and physical examination, the doctor determines which allergens may be causing allergic reactions.
- Immunoallergic testing. The patient is injected intramuscularly with a minimal amount of a solution containing the allergen and the body's reaction is monitored. If there is no reaction, the dose is increased until a reaction is detected.
- Analysis of the results. The doctor analyzes the test results and determines which allergens the patient has an immune response to.
- Development of a treatment plan. Based on the results of immunoallergy diagnostics, the doctor develops an individual treatment plan, which may include antihistamines, glucocorticosteroids, immunotherapy, or advice on avoiding allergens.
Immunoallergological diagnostics with the inhalation panel 20-I is an important tool in the detection of allergic reactions to respiratory allergens. It helps patients to receive an accurate diagnosis and specialized treatment, which improves their quality of life and allows to avoid potentially dangerous allergic reactions. In case of suspicion of allergy, it is advisable to contact a qualified immunoallergist for the necessary examinations and diagnostics.
