Examination of 2 ovaries during resection

700 UAH

Pathohistological examination of two ovaries during resection — morphological study of resected (partially removed) tissues of both ovaries to determine the nature of the pathological process and assess the preserved tissue reserve.

  • Why is it prescribed: for cysts of both ovaries (follicular, endometrioid, dermoid, etc.), polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), benign tumor-like formations, as well as to exclude atypia and malignancy.

  • Material for research: surgical material (resected part or biopsies of both ovaries).

  • Method: pathomorphological (histological) examination.

Histological material is taken only in medical institutions.

Description

Histological examination of tissues of both ovaries — is a pathomorphological analysis of fragments of the left and right ovaries removed during bilateral organ-preserving surgery. Such a study allows you to simultaneously assess the condition of both gonads, compare the nature of pathological changes, and exclude systemic or tumor processes.

Research objective: The analysis is performed to establish the exact type of neoplasms or cysts that have affected both organs. Histological examination of samples from both sides is critically important, since the nature of the formations on the left and right ovaries may differ, which directly affects the further treatment strategy.

What does the pathologist evaluate:

  • Type of formations: differentiation of endometrioid, dermoid or follicular cysts on each ovary separately. These formations can significantly affect a woman's reproductive function and lead to a variety of clinical symptoms. Ovarian examination during resection is an important step in determining the nature of the cysts and planning further treatment. Establishing an accurate diagnosis helps to avoid complications and ensure adequate therapy.

  • Process synchronicity: assessment of whether the pathology is symmetrical or whether each organ has individual characteristics of the lesion.

  • Exclusion of neoplasia: A careful search for atypical cells in samples from both glands to rule out borderline tumors or cancer.

  • Stromal morphology: the condition of hormone-producing tissues and assessment of the follicular reserve remaining after resection.

Clinical significance: The results of the examination of both ovaries give the doctor a complete picture of the woman's reproductive health. This is important for correcting hormonal levels, preventing premature menopause, and planning future pregnancies. It also allows you to make sure that the pathological process has been completely eliminated on both sides.

When is it prescribed:

  • bilateral ovarian resection for multiple or large cysts;

  • treatment of endometriosis (endometrioid cysts on both ovaries);

  • polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) requiring surgical correction;

  • suspicion of a bilateral tumor process.
