⭕️ Transferrin is a protein that binds iron (0.1% = 4 mg) in the body and transports it (24 mg per day). Elevated serum transferrin suggests iron deficiency anemia, while fecal transferrin indicates gastrointestinal disorders, as it is more resistant to metabolism in the intestine than hemoglobin.
