Aldosterone-renin ratio (AR)

Aldosterone and renin in the body interact in a complex system known as the aldosterone-renin relationship (ARN). This system regulates blood pressure and blood volume by controlling the body's water and electrolyte balance.

Analyses

Various tests are performed to assess the function of the ARS and diagnose disorders related to this system. Among them, an important place is taken by measuring the levels of aldosterone and renin in the blood. High levels of aldosterone may indicate hyperaldosteronism, while low levels may be associated with hypoaldosteronism.

Additional tests that may be performed include measuring the concentration of electrolytes in the blood, such as sodium, potassium, and chloride, as aldosterone affects their levels.

Hormonal panel/Hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system

The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis also needs to be considered when analyzing ARF function. This axis controls the production and release of renin and other hormones that affect adrenal function and aldosterone.

In case of disturbances in the functioning of the GNH system, a number of pathological conditions may arise, such as primary and secondary hypo- and hyperaldosteronism. Therefore, it is important to conduct a comprehensive analysis to understand the state and functioning of both systems and their interrelationship.
