Tryptase

Tryptase is an enzyme produced by mast cells of the immune system. Its elevation in the blood indicates an active allergic reaction or systemic immune disorders.

Why take the test?

The tryptase test helps:

• confirm anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction),

• assess the risk systemic mastocytosis,

• diagnose mast cell activation syndrome,

• control allergic conditions in children and adults.

Who is recommended?

• Patients with suspected anaphylaxis

• People with recurrent swelling, hives

• Children with severe or systemic allergies

• After an insect bite with a whole-body reaction

How is the procedure?

• The analysis is performed with venous blood

• Optimally pass on an empty stomach, in the morning

• The result is up to 1-2 business days

What does the result mean?

• Up to 11.4 ng/ml — normal level

• Above 20 ng/ml — requires additional examinations

• The level may increase sharply 1–3 hours after an allergic reaction
