Endometrial examination after hysteroresectoscopy — is a detailed pathomorphological study of tissues removed during minimally invasive surgery under visual control. Unlike conventional curettage, hysteroresectoscopy allows the doctor to specifically remove pathological formations (nodes, polyps, synechiae), and subsequent analysis confirms their nature and cellular composition.
Research objective: The main goal is to definitively verify the diagnosis after surgery. The study allows you to distinguish benign structural changes from precancerous conditions (atypical hyperplasia) and malignant processes, as well as assess the condition of the surrounding endometrial tissues.
What does the pathologist evaluate:
Morphology of formations: studying the structure of removed polyps, submucosal myomatous nodes or areas of hyperplasia.
Cellular atypia: searching for altered cells that may indicate a risk of developing endometrial cancer.
Presence of inflammation: detection of signs of chronic endometritis or tissue fibrosis.
Hormonal response: assessment of how the mucous membrane responds to the body's hormonal signals.
Clinical significance: The histological conclusion after hysteroresectoscopy is the «foundation» for further treatment. Based on it, the gynecologist determines whether the operation was radical enough, or whether the patient needs long-term hormonal therapy or further surgical intervention.
When is it prescribed:
after removal of endometrial polyps (polypectomy);
after resection of submucosal nodes of uterine fibroids;
in the treatment of endometrial hyperplasia that is not amenable to drug therapy;
after dissection of intrauterine membranes or synechiae.
