Determination of antibiotic sensitivity

The main advantage of most studies in this category is the compilation of an individual antibiogram. Laboratory analysis shows which antibacterial agents the identified pathogen is highly sensitive to and which it is resistant to. The timing of the test depends on the type of test. Antigenic systems give results quickly, while classical bacterial culture requires several days for the natural growth of a culture of microorganisms.

The main rule for any cultures is to take samples before starting antibiotics, antibacterial or antifungal drugs. If the course of treatment has already been completed, the analysis can be taken only 14 days after its completion.

For each type of study, including the collection of urine, feces or urogenital swabs, basic personal hygiene rules should be followed in advance. The use of third-party antiseptics or violation of the sterility of the container may lead to the growth of concomitant microflora, which will distort the final results in the Medi Lab Plus laboratory.
