Its detection is an important diagnostic marker for ANCA-associated systemic vasculitis, primarily granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Wegener's granulomatosis), microscopic polyangiitis, and less commonly eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Churg-Strauss syndrome). Anti-PR3 is detected in approximately 80–90% of patients with granulomatosis with polyangiitis, making it one of the most specific laboratory tests for confirming the diagnosis.
